5Our First Playmobil Advent CalendarSep 29, 2009
By goonius
Last Christmas was the first year our daughter was old enough to handle herself around the many small pieces that come with the all things Playmobil. So, while I have no basis for comparison, I will say that we were really pleased with this Advent calendar.

Normally, I think I'd agree with other reviewers that it's kind of odd not having a Christmas theme. Of course, we have the Nativity scene to that end. For us, the release of the pirate calendar happened to coincide with a rabid love of anything pirate on our daughter's part, and so it was totally appropriate.

The parts that came with this set, some less exciting that others, are still being played with almost a year later, and somehow that almost seems to matter more than the individual daily components. I can't begin to count the number of hours she spent tallying her gold coins, she kinda reminded us of Scrooge.

I think the long-term play value of this Advent calender has been awesome, and that the thrill of opening a little box each day, no matter what it contains, is a big deal for any kid. I would have loved this as a child, and we will be buying another this year when Christmas comes around.

4Good but not GreatJan 18, 2009

Our sons (3 and 8) enjoyed this but we were a bit disappointed in what some of the days contained. It wasn't as fun as last years but they are into pirates so it was worth it for us. The advent calendar is well made and durable.

4Playmobile Advent Boxes are GreatDec 01, 2010

I guess I am actually reviewing the forest scene from last year my daughter in law got my grandson. It was a vry big deal everay day for him to open his box and when he went to his other grandparents he knew exactly how many he missed opening. I was disappointed this year searching for other ones. I was not wanting to buy priates or ponies or Robbers for Advent but just finding them in stock was such a problem that I was so exciting when I found Tou up store in Little Rock tht had a pirtes and ponies I snatched them up ( my granddaughter is 4 now) when we had seem one in Barnes and Noble my grandson spied the box and said " Oh I hope momma gets me one of those again this year"-- but then as he got closer was disappointed ti is the same as the last years-- thnking the pirate will make him happy even though the desigh on the box does not look nearly as good.
Don't understand the robbers for advent!
Will let foks know if dit is as big a hit.

My daughter was excited to open this everyday, but didn't really playing with it. We bought the park one last year and she enjoyed that much more. That being said, I really love these. Make sure you put aside one hour to assemble!

2Lots and lots of assembly requiredDec 27, 2009

Do you love staying up late and assembling toys on the last night of November? Well, then this is the Advent Calendar for you!

This is the second Playmobil Advent Calendar I've gotten and it seems to just be how they come.

First you have to fold all the little boxes and then you have to sort all the fiddly little pieces into the right boxes.

My kids love the Playmobil Pirates, so maybe it is worth it...
