Whiteboard sub-par?Jun 21, 2010 1. Even using the BIC markers rated high for easy erasability, this whiteboard displays previously-erased characters. Makes it very difficult for little ones to focus on new words/shapes drawn on board unless using very dark marker.
2. The little wooden magnetic letters are very thin and more of a cardboard consistency - easily chewed by little ones.
3. Don't use blue chalk on chalkboard - it doesn't come off very easily.
Very poor qualityJun 10, 2010 My 22month old daughter got this board as a gift. We liked the idea, that it has a string attached, so you could hang it up on the wall, BUT...
...the wooden-frame fell apart on the first day we had it. We try to put it back together, but as soon as you take it in your hands, it falls apart again.
What a waste of money.
And besides this crappy toy, we purchased a Melissa and Dough Plush-Doggie, which was moldy smelling. We are done with Melissa and Doug.
Good productMay 03, 2010 Was a little smaller than I expected, but I should have looked at the dimensions more closely before ordering. Overall, very satisfied. Letters and numbers are good quality magnets.
magnetic chalk boardApr 22, 2010 The idea is fine. I wish there were some way to set up the board for easier use. The quality of Melissa & Doug is very good. This was purchased for a 3 year old.
too flimsy and a safety hazardJan 03, 2010 I usually love Melissa and Doug toys, although sometimes the wooden edges aren't as smooth as they should be. In this case the whole frame just came apart after a few days, the board warped, and when I tried to reconnect the wood pieces, a dowel broke off completely. It's awful. Save your money.
I bought it, btw, hoping I had found a small magnetic space for my son to arrange his letters on. I'll continue that search.
