 Poorly cut pieces don't fit together properlyJan 18, 2012

We own many many M&D puzzles and toys, and this is the first one that's been bad. The two cow pieces were improperly cut and do not fit together or with the puzzle frame. They were jammed in there from the manufacturer (where was quality control when this left the factory?!), and when we received the item we had to pry the pieces out. At first I thought they were glued in there, they were so hard to get out. Once we were able to get the pieces out, we noticed that they were improperly cut and did not fit. My daughter, who loves puzzles in general and can spend hours putting one together and taking it apart over and over, quickly lost interest in this puzzle b/c she got frustrated with not being able to make the improperly cut pieces fit. I chase after 2 young children and don't have the time to try to do a return, I honestly expect quality products from the get-go, especially from such a highly-respected name as M&D. This one will go into the recycling bin and I will be more wary of M&D products going forward.

Our girls love matching the mama and baby animals in this puzzle. Because the matching adds another element, it still entertains my 3 year old daughter but the pictures behind the pieces make it simple enough for my 2 year old without frustrating her. We have several of the Melissa and Dough Peg puzzles and they've held up very well.

I bought this for my son for Easter but he has another Melissa & Doug toy and he loves it. I love all of the Melissa & Doug toys that he has and so does he. Somehow the simplest toys seem to hold his attention...and my son is very active so that says a lot. He does chew on the pieces and sometimes the edges start to wear but I think that is to be expected. He just turned 1 and he is already starting to realize how puzzles work. And it is nice that you can also teach them the sounds the animals make too at the same time you teach them how puzzles work.

Purchased this for my 18 month old grandson. He really liked it and though he needs help right now putting the pieces back, he will learn how as he plays with it. I love the way Melissa & Doug puzzles are made. You can trust that you'll get your moneys worth.

this is a great puzzle for little hands! my 18 month old daughter loves it, although she is not too good at fitting the pieces back in yet! it is very well made and cute.
