Counting down the days until ChristmasDec 06, 2007
By Joe'sMom I bought this for my 3 year old to help him count down the days until Christmas. It was easy to set up but did take about 45 min with all the folding and fitting together boxes and toy pieces. The set comes with the backdrop playset scene you see in the picture and the Advent Calendar itself is a cardboard panel that can be hung from a wall or door. the cardboard boxes are folded together and fit into numbered slots on the calandar board. The set comes with 3 Playmobil action figures, a horse, a dog, and various accessories to set up a Knight's Duel. There are a LOT of really tiny pieces though so if you are buying this for a young child, keep that in mind.
My son loves waking up each morning to open a new box and we count the numbers that we have already opened. We bought the Polly Pocket Calendar for my niece (also age 3) and she loves it too.

CuteFeb 02, 2010
By K. Woy My son LOVED this and had a lot of fun with it. He ran to the advent calendar every morning in December with great delight. My only complaint is that it took a LOT of assembly. Each little box had to be popped up and then I had to find the appropriate tiny toy and stick it in the box and then slide it onto the slot on the cardboard back. It says it requires assembly, they were honest. It was just a lot more assembly than I thought it needed. I'd still buy it, I'd get another one. But be forwarned. It takes a little while to pre-assemble this thing.

Where's the Holiday theme?Sep 05, 2010
By Lisydomu I've been buying Playmobil advent sets for ten years or longer, and they've been a wonderful part of the holiday season for my grandchildren and me. We loved the various settings, and especially waited to see what Santa would be doing each year. "Christmas in the Forest" was truly special, as it included foxes -- my maiden name is Fox.
The last two years have been terribly disappointing, however. Pirates and knights and unicorns and fairies may be good gender-specific toys, but -- except for the countdown feaure -- they have nothing to do with Advent. If and when Playmobil produces a Christmas-themed set, I'll return to buying them.
