Most Impressively Huge Dinosaur of the Playmobil CollectionJan 07, 2011
By goonius We own all of the Playmobil dinosaur sets, but the Brachiosaurus is certainly the largest of all. He is perhaps 18" in length, and perhaps 13" tall. Mind you, these are estimates - but just to give a general idea, this is no small dino. His legs, neck and mouth move - as with all the other large dinos made by Playmobil. His head and tail also swivel around 360 degrees, giving him a wider range of mobility than any other dino. He is quite realistic in appearance, but unlike many of the other dinosaurs, he actually looks very friendly - something about his face and eyes. Maybe this is why my eldest daughter, who was helping me wrap this gift for her sister, immediately took to him, and insisted on feeding him before he was put away -- after all "Who knows when someone had last fed him, he must be starving!" I'm not kidding when I say it was love at first sight for her (I anticipate there will be scuffles over who gets to feed him later).
Onward.
While the Brachiosaurus is obviously the main feature of this set it does come with a few other little goodies.
-Two explorers, with a video camera and a scary long blade of some sort (hopefully for the foliage, not the friendly Brachiosaurus)
-A beige lizard, a black scorpion, and the cutest little green frog (the latter was also a big hit)
- A Rocky Territory (cave), adorned with those lovely prehistoric plants - including ferns, palms, and a really interesting fruit tree, and an attached section of water/green terrain, and finally - some strange green lichen-like substance with very complicated instructions that seemed to produce a very odd looking plant. This stuff will, nonetheless, be great for feeding our herbivorous dinos.
Lastly, I will say I'm not entirely convinced this set is a steal at any price. Like the one offered here. I got it for more than 1/3 less (see comments) and for that I think it was 100% worth every penny. Do shop around. For the right price, it's a great add to the dino collection.
This set is made in Europe.

By Emma Jackson I was pleasantly shocked when i received this toy in the mail! It's huge and even more excited when I opened the box and saw how BIG the brachiosaurus was! Playmobil toys are our kids and our favorites. They are the best, so well thought out and well made. The detail and quality is untouchable by other brands. Well done Playmobil. Well done.
