We ADORE playmobil in our house, from our very first set (this one actually) to the 20+ others since I think I might get even more excited for a new one then my daughter does. Where as other reviewers here have complained about putting the sets together most Playmobil lovers like myself think it's a blast. I love putting together the sets and seeing all the imaginative little items almost as much as my daughter loves playing with the sets.
They allow open ended play like no other, bringing out her creativity and imagination. There are no prefabricated story lines here, just her own ideas. The details are wonderful, and yes I mean all those tiny little pieces. These aren't suitable for a household with little babies or children who aren't careful with their toys but for those who are there is no better in my opinion. Plus no worries of lead or other issues, Playmobil has the strictest safety standards.
We have all the fairy items from this line and all are wonderful, a green & blue playsilk with this set also works wonderful to make a grassy area and a water area. I think my favorite is the tree!

I have to agree with the other reviewers. My daughter got this toy for her birthday. It looks really cool on the box, but it is incredibly complicated with tiny little pieces that make it tedious to put together. I am planning to glue many of the environment set pieces together so that there is less to take apart and lose. [...] I do like playmobil, but this particular set is a bit much.

I have three girls: two aged 9 and one 11. They LOVE Playmobil sets with lots of parts. These are perfect and they have continued to play with and collect Playmobil since they were very young. If you don't want too many parts, Playmobil makes the sets for the younger child. Love these and so will their kids.

I gave my 5 year old granddaughter this fairy garden for Christmas, and my daughter and I spent well over an hour helping her put it together. It was supposed to be one of the best toys for this age group according to Family magazine. No mention was made that there were many many tiny parts to be put together, (Hundreds?) some of which were never found. She never could have done it herself, and many pieces will get lost. The instruction booklet showed how to put together the parts with pictures, and the little one was able to understand how to put the fairies together. She did enjoy working on it with us, and she liked the fairies. The fairies were cute and large enough to handle, although still small. It is a cute set but plan on doing all the putting together yourself, and plan on having zip-lock baggies for the many parts. Not very practical, and a disappointment.
