The BEST Fruit and Veggie Play Set on the MarketFeb 06, 2009

I first got this set for my 15 months old daughter. She really likes it and keeps playing with this set endlessly. Although she is still a little young to chop the pieces by herself, she absolutely loves it when I'm there helping her chop. Since then, I have been giving this similar set to many friends. All reported back that their girls LOVE this play set. All the moms said that this set offers so much fun of a pretend play. The construction is solid. Good quality wood. Safe paint. It also came with a knife and a chopping board!
One of the best thing about this fruit and veggie play set is its look. It doesn't look "fake" like other brands. The color of each fruit is softer and looks more real.
In my opinion, this set can be enjoyed by the kids as young as 15 months old, but will be a bigger hit once they are ~20 months (or when they have a better control of their fine motor skill).
Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed.

Fantastic SAFE replacement for M+D food toysFeb 11, 2010

We originally purchased Melissa+Doug food groups and also the cookie set. I had reservations since they were made in China but so many people said that M+D's standards were high so I went with it. I then read about the recall of the M+D cookies in Canada, and also that some of the other food group sets were not the safest in terms of paint chipping and dangerous chemicals in the toys. We purchased PLAN food groups last week from amazon and could not be more pleased. This one is designated for age 2+ which makes sense as the items are larger. We also purchased the breakfast set and the other veggie set - the breakfast one is ok for our 2 year old daughter but the other veggie set is not appropriate until age 3+ as the package states as the pieces are much smaller. Our daughter likes to put the pieces in her mouth so we will wait to give her the other veggie set for a few more months. PLAN is a fantastic company with outstanding business practices in every way. Their products have NO dangerous chemicals and they look and feel much more natural than the M+D food. The food colors are muted, not shiny. I feel so much better now that we have replaced our daughter's food toys with toys NOT made in China, where the standards are terrible. Highly recommend this product and this company overall. Also recommend GREEN TOYS if you are looking for a fantastic tea party set or plate set including utensils - NO CHEMICALS (no pthalates, BPA, lead, etc.). PLAN TOYS ARE FANTASTIC!

This play set was purchased for my niece as a Christmas present. She loves playing with them in her play-kitchen.
They're also of good quality and will be able to be played with for years to come.

My son just received this toy yesterday, but he absolutely loves it. He's 16 months and sometimes can't line the knife up right, but he loves cutting the veggies with a little help. And, he learns the name of each veggie at the same time.

I purchased this toy for my 18-month old son. He started playing with it immediately, but he has a hard time "cutting" the vegetables. I try to attach them loosely so they are easier to cut. Unfortunately, my son lost the knife after only having it for about a week, but he mostly just "cooks" with the food anyway, and doesn't seem to notice the loss.
The set is great quality, and I am glad to know it is safe and not plastic! Very loud when dropped on wood floors, if that is a consideration for you.
