"not too old to play"
Although this was a gift, I had fun watching the recipient put it together and assemble a collection of medieval types (tavern customers, Robin Hood characters, etc.) to add some life to the building. He has lots of knights and warriors already, and likes to do fantasy games, so this fits right in. I suggested adding some "hay bales" for dormitory-style sleeping in the attic, and just for fun, he put a modern grillmaster with kettle grill outside the house. (They liked their meat in those days, as well as their mead, and my giftee had plenty of miniature tankards on hand). This is a typically well-made Playmobil product, good for years of adult as well as kid play. The only weirdness was the packaging, which consisted of a cardboard box (no original Playmobil carton), which made for a strange birthday gift. Also, the assembly instructions were rather rudimentary. Otherwise, we were both more than happy.

My 8 year old put this together christmas morning. It's an add-on set, which are packaged simpler than regular sets. He loved adding this to his castle and had plenty of people to add to it. Watching the peasants and knights move in was priceless. It fell apart once when it got smashed and clicked back together now problem. We are using this as we study the time period and find the hands on learning a tremendous asset to 3rd grade curriculum!

I purchased this for my three year old. It is not durable at all, there are no handles to carry it from room to room and it is constantly falling a part. I do not recommend this at all. Toy people do not come with this either. Something I learned a day before Christmas as I was putting it together. Save your money...buy something else.
