I don't understand what people are complaining about. This company dressed these dolls in kimono type clothing that is of the Asian culture. What is the problem? If you went to Asia or celebrations in American I am sure you would see Asian people in such clothing! You are looking at a wooden doll with painted on simple features and I find them to be very cute!

I appreciate that PlanToys offers a wide variety of little people of various ethnicities for use with their wide array of PlayCITY items. This set is very cute (I especially love the girl with the little pigtails!), and while they maybe could have changed up the outfits a little bit, I think they are a fine addition to the other "families" available for play with all the Road & Rail sets. I think we should be careful about assuming that the clothing painted on the little people are a "problem," when, after all, kids are not going to develop a "stereotype" of an ethnic group based on one toy (unless WE emphasize it to them).
In my family, we have several of the "City" people sets, including the Plan Toys City Series Rescue Crew, PLAN Toy City Casual Family of Four and Plan Toys Service Crew, which, by the way, also reflect multiple ethnic groups. All the Plan Toys we have are very well made and able to really take a beating! And the fact that they are made from recycled rubberwood that is organically grown is important to me. So many of the cheaper wooden toys out there manufactured in China - it is questionable where they get the wood and whether or not it is being sustainably harvested.
For reference, these "dolls" are about 2.25 inches tall, and made to go with Plan City/Road & Rail items, including those listed below, and not necessarily with the Plan Dollhouse line (though they would work with the dollhouses too). Examples of Plan City items that fit these dolls are:

* PlanToys Road & Rail Play Set - Railway Station

This set is just adorable. My favorite is the little girl, she is just adorable. I enjoy having different ethnic dolls for my kids to play with.

Please, stop making Asian people with closed "line" eyes... Really? This just needs to end. Plan Toys, shame, shame... I find this very frustrating as well that we cannot be represented appropriately.

We love plan toys and now have several components of the plan city. I wanted a mix of people for my son to play with-- not just some white figures that look like him. It is a diverse world.
But these look terrible. Why such sterotypical clothing, hair, and costumes. I am not Asian but I couldn't buy these for him. I don't understand. This is a Thai company-- am I missing something?
