Nice, Versatile SetJan 13, 2011
By goonius My three year old daughter received this set from a relative for Christmas. I was a little taken aback when I saw the price on it (FYI: it can be found for 40% less, I later discovered).
Nonetheless it's a really pleasant little set, and its play value extends beyond the pieces that it comes with.
This set essentially consists of a sturdy fenced enclosure (note: not all our Playmobil fenced enclosures could be termed 'sturdy') with two attached gazebos to provide the animals shelter. Then there is the group of animals: A goat & kid, a calf, a black sheep and white lamb, a mouse, bird, donkey and pony. There is a tree that seems to have difficulty standing on its own (not the best of the Playmobil trees, but we fortunately have dozens so its functionality is not missed). There are vegetables as food for the animals, bottles for the baby animals plus a bottle warmer and table, decorative foliage, and two straw beds for the animals to sleep on -- though none of the animals' legs move, so it seems a moot point. There are lots of bandage-stickers which outlive their usefulness immediately and will end their lives by becoming attached to the bottoms of socks and so forth. And finally there are people: a female adult and two little girls.
Assembly time was only slightly tedious. Maybe 20 minutes - I wasn't rushing either. Re-assembly is intuitive and quite speedy.
What ultimately makes this set great fun for my children is the enclosure, with its functioning front gate. It stays put during a bit of rough play, which is nice, and has become home to all manner of creatures, inluding our Playmobil dinosaurs who easily fill the entire area. It seems all animals, from Calico Critters to Iwako eraser animals, must be taken to this enclosure to receive their meals, and so - unlike much of our Playmobil sets, which get disassembled and stored when not in immediate use, this set has stayed intact on the living room floor since Christmas, where it sees daily play. The animals have provided a fair amount of play and plenty of squabbling. The other (smaller) accesories, have been generally dismissed, perhaps because the animals have deluxe meals concocted for them in the adjacent play kitchen and are served fruits and veggies that are about ten times the size of their bodies.
All told, I think this set has been a big hit. I probably wouldn't have shelled out top dollar for it had it been my decision to purchase, but I'm glad someone else did, seeing how much play the children have gotten out of it.

Both my kids (elem & middle school age) like playing with this set. Durable and lots of pieces to set up & play with.

My daughter loves it! Fits great with the Playmobil Vet ClinicDec 27, 2009

I purchased the Playmobil Animal Nursery as an add on to the Playmobil Vet Clinic and, while I think it is a bit pricey, I am glad I got it since my seven year old loves it. I recommend this product since not only it really broadens play options when paired with the Playmobil Vet Clinic but also stands by its self fairly well. Now, I must say, compared to the Playmobil Vet Clinic and the Playmobil Vet Operating Room, this product does not have that many accessories and, given the price, I would advice to try and find it used since that would probably be a better value for your money.

By Emma Jackson I decided to buy this set as a gift for my godchild's younger sister. She just turned 4 and loves assembling things and also has a great love for animals of all kinds.
This set left her beaming with happiness. She keeps rearranging the animals in the nursery, talks to them and has demanded her parents to buy her other Playmobil characters so her animals can play with them. Playmobil toys are so friendly and have such a pleasant design, that they make for a great learning experience. This particular set is very good because it has no unrealistic side to it (no princesses, pirates, spaceships) and teaches kids about animals and gives them a sense of responsibility, because we all know how seriously they take their toys.
The accessories make it so realistic and the fact that it an animal nursery really helps: she loves pretending to care for the animals, giving them vaccines and helping them recover. She even decided she might want to be a vet when she grows up! I plan to buy her the farm set too, since it will complete this one and help her expand her collection and continue her passion for animals.
