great detailJan 08, 2008

These small wooden construction vehicles have great details from rubber tires and tracks to moving parts. You don't usually see such detail in a toy that is small enough to toss in your purse to take to restaurants. My two year old will play with these for a half hour at a time and hasn't gotten tired of them yet after 3 months. They are holding up fine to his rough play.

SOOOO DISAPPOINTED -- Good-bye Plan!Sep 02, 2011
By Gypsy We have purchased several Plan Toys (not part of the City)for our toddler and have been pleased thus far. We began building his wishlist for his autumn birthday and Christmas. Plan was a big part of that list and we looked forward to beginning a city for him. He was gifted the Highway Maintenance Crew for his birthday. It was awesome and he loved it! He was also gifted an Amazon gift card. We used it immediately to order the Road Construction Set. It came and we were so excited - only to have looks of confusion and disgust from his two parents! It is like a totally different product!!! The paint is a different shade of yellow (ok, not a big deal), the wheels/tracks were all wobbly (certainly NOT in the Highway set!) and they were SMALLER! Almost imperctably but without a doubt. AND (yes, there's more!) the entire unit was noticeably LIGHTER! Just all around CHEAP and these things are NOT cheap to buy!
We are in the process of trying to get it returned but will still lose money.
Good-bye Plan Toys. You had a good thing going. We were just getting ready to jump in with both feet and spend big bucks for an heirloom toy. I have no idea what happened but am not willing to risk one more cent on it! The Wishlist is revamped. We are going back to Playmobil.
Hope this review (my first after being a longtime Amazon customer) can spare someone else our disappointment.

durable and funSep 05, 2010
By N. Custer I bought this for my 4 year old nephew and he loved the set. That was about six months ago and they are still going strong and he's still playing with them all the time. They are small so they fit in his little backpack to take on trips.

Very cute, but small and steam roller broke day 1Feb 24, 2010
By Mary Mac I love Plan toy products and was very excited to get this construction set for my son despite the price. Wow, are they small! Like another reader, it's my fault for not looking more carefully at the specs. I just assumed they would be in proportion to the size of the airplane that came with his Plan City Airport--not so! Much smaller and no way little Plan people can ride on them. What a shame!
The biggest disappointment is that we've only had the set for 16 hours, and already the steam roller is broken. From simply pressing it with his hand (not dropping or stepping on it or anything), my 2 yr old snapped the roller right off. The dowel holding the roller is plastic, as it turns out, so maybe that's a weakness? Anyway, I'm going to try to glue it back on, but my hopes aren't high for it lasting. These toys are much more delicate than any of the other Plan City items we've purchased.

CuteJan 12, 2011
By Medora Jensen These toys look really cute. But they are really tiny. All three fit in the palm of my hand. I think the price is a little steep (considering where they are made: Thailand). If they were made in the USA or Canada I would think it was a great price.
