no axleDec 23, 2009
By SLC mom On their newer 123 trucks, Playmobil is cutting corners, and no longer has trucks with axles. The black "tire" just turns on the yellow "wheel." The action is not as smooth as older Playmobil trucks my son has, and the truck doesn't go very far when you push it. My son does like the shape sorting function and opening and closing the doors.

kids love it, parents have to put it back togetherMar 13, 2009
By medmom My 23-month-old twins love this toy. They like to pretend that their toy animals are eating the sack of potatoes & hay bale, or drinking from the barrel.
The shape sorter on the top of the garage is easy for them at this age. But my son did learn "oval," a shape he didn't know yet. I like the fact that real-world objects are associated with plain shapes (oval sack of potatoes, square hay bale, circle barrel). It took them a while to understand that they need to BACK the truck into the garage to get the shapes to drop into the dumper.
I do end up putting pieces back together for my kids every few minutes, which I don't mind too much. The ramp fits onto the garage floor like a simple puzzle piece, and it won't be long before my kids will learn to put it on by themselves. (For now, a piece of packing tape on the bottom holds the pieces together longer while my kids pick the garage up and haul it around.) Also, my son has learned to pull the dumper off the back of the truck, so the truck looks like a semi with no trailer, and he can't snap it back on by himself yet.
I highly recommend this to anyone with kids who are a little too young for regular Playmobil. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like these pieces will be compatible with regular Playmobil toys when they get older (just that the little guy can't hold anything in his hands or move his arms, to make the figure more chunky & less of a choke hazard).
Fun with shapesJul 29, 2011
By mrmd My two year old grandson has really gotten good at taking the truck out, backing it up, dropping the shapes, etc. It took a few tries at the beginning to manipulate at first, but now he really enjoys it. Great for developing some dexterity and coordination.

My 20 mo. old son loves his garage. I love the fact that he works on the "puzzle" pieces to load the truck. Worth the money.
