Great for Little Ones!Sep 17, 2008
By P. Parks We have nearly all the 123 playmobil sets. Last year at Christmas with all the lead scares we told family to get our children playmobil because it is made in Malta or Germany not China. They love all their sets. Not one has been neglected. They are extremely durable and will last many years. I plan to put these away for our grandchildren. Yes they are that good!

Great Toy for ToddlersOct 24, 2007
By Zenlily My 19 month old son loves his playmobils. He has this set plus one or two more. They are easy for him to hold, easy to clean, and keep him entertained. I only wish they had more sets.

I Would Have Given it Five Stars, But For Two Flaws....Feb 05, 2010
By goonius My first issue with this set (and had I looked more closely at the box, I would have understood this prior to buying it) is that the fence cannot be put together to make a round enclosure that is pictured. Allow me to explain that: There are 8 fence pieces, each piece only connects to one other piece, making four lengths of fence. Each makes a section of the circle, but then you must place them, unattached, in a circle to make the image depicted on the box. Alright, so this should be simple, but you have to mess with them a bit to get that perfect circle going. And then what if that guy with the wide-brim hat is propelled via 4-year old power, with his zebra-print safari vehicle right into your painstakingly-composed zoo? Well, I'll tell you, shrieks and howls abound as the animals are all released from the safety of their fenced-in dwelling, and the 2-year old's play arena is smashed to bits with gleeful disregard on the part of the guy with the wide-brim hat and his powerful 4-year old god.
Anyway, it just seems to me like they could have made a fence that all fit together. I mean, would it have really been difficult? Is there any benefit to the pieces not fitting together? I guess I'm glad they didn't pull this stunt with the train tracks in the train set.
My other issue is that someone wasn't manning the machines when our monkey was cranked out and he's got some ABS plastic goo in his crevices that is rather unsightly. "What's wrong with monkey?" my 2-year old daughter quipped. This is actually the first Playmobil set we've had where a piece has actually been messed up. I'm tempted to write and see if they'll send us a new one. It would make for a fun, but perhaps ultimately unpleasant experiment.
Anyway, this set has its good points. Aside from our fudged monkey, the other animals are pretty cute (giraffe, zebra, elephant). I like that it comes with a little half family (dad and daughter; she has a really cute horsie on her shirt, he has a camera). The monkey's tree has recessed spots in each of the detachable leaves where he can perch high up in the trees so as not to be observed too closely, thus not grossing out the onlookers.
Overall, it's not a bad add to the collections we already own. Would have liked a connectible fence. Would have loved a not-screwed up monkey since they are my daughter's favorite animal. But we'll live. And the little guy in the safari vehicle, with his rhino is a great companion to this set, when he's not being unruly.
Also, this set is made (1/10th poorly) in Malta. Which is still better than China.
Animal fun!Apr 22, 2012
By Tommy's mum My 16 mth old loves the animals, although we do keep losing all of the figures around the house! I can't work out why there is a fence,it would have been better to have it with the farm set but hey ho! The animals are cute..although we can't do much with the humans as they can't sit on anything or really do much within the set! A little jeep would have been nice, as in going on safari. Like all playmobil sets, i think they all need a few extra figures etc in them to make them value for money.
