Learning Resources Word Whiz Electronic Flash Card Reading Game- Educational Gift, Toy for Boys Girls Ages 5 6 7+ to 10 Year Old

We homeschool and this little gadget was just the thing for our little guy in kindergarten. Making flash cards can be so time consuming in order to have a decent amount of variety in difficulty and words. The Word Whiz is the solution to that, easy as can be. It has three levels, as shown in my pictures and video, with part of the word on the large screen, and two letters to the left to choose the one that completes the word. It gives a quick "bzz" if you get it wrong and shows the correct letter in the place where it goes. I do wish that it would have stayed on that screen a tad longer than it did before moving on to the next word to complete, but that is literally my ONLY complaint.

We used this in many ways, both as teacher/student usage and at times we just gave it to him to play for an allotted amount of time. He even plays with it on his own, completely out of school time! One thing we have him do, as he got more advanced with his words, was to not just choose the letter to finish the word, but to say the word aloud as well.

It is easy on batteries, they last quite a long time. It is also easy to turn off and on with one button. The overall design of this device is simple, easy to use and extremely educational. The 3 difficulty levels are great to help improve skill. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a child learning to read / sight words / etc. wether they homeschool or not.

The Word Whiz caught my eye because it seemed like it would be easy for my child to understand. It has 3 skill set levels based on 3,4 and 5 letter words. Because the Word Whiz has 3 skill set levels my child will be able to learn at his own pace.On each level The Word Whiz screen displays to your child a partial spelling of one word at a time with two choices to to choose from to complete it.The Word Whiz will make one sound when your child chooses correctly and a different sound when your child's choice is incorrectly. Also if you child does chose incorrectly The Word Whiz screen will flash the correct option before displaying the next word. Once your child has completed the first set of words The Word Whiz will show your child how many words they got correct and incorrect for that set. The Word Whiz is fun for my son because its hand held,easy to use and more convenient than flash cards. The Word Whiz encourages independent learning an has given my son a tool to strengthen his spelling. I wish we would have had this back when he first started school but I am sure glad we have it now.

This little gadget educational toy is pretty cool. It doesn't sport the colorful edgy updated today's "computer-y" themes & screens most things like this boast. It's kinda old school with the graphics. What's best about this to me is the wordage used. It doesn't just ask u about 'cat, ball, red, blue, two, one etc' type words. It makes the kid think & expands their vocabulary. I'm most definitely a parent who wants my kids to have a vastly expanded vocab. No, it's not collegiate level words but but but, it does offer better variety of words than traditional gadgets for this age group. I love it. Of course it takes some getting used to using by the child because it isn't all colorful & ooooh, whoa, wow, look at the pretty colors, cool pictures. It gets right down to what its supposed to do......teach! I gave it a 4 in meets expectations b/c I thought it would allow downloading & saving of your place or assignments to help remember where u need the most study. However, I still like it. It's straight to the point & gives knowledge of more than text, email, & social media shorthand made up acronyms. Old fashioned edu-ma-cation! That's what's up! Price is good too. Run tell dat & get this while you're runnin'. Your kid could benefit. Well, most kids who don't already know these words. Toodly boodly***
